Arcadia Bluffs, one of Michigan's premier golf destinations, is set to expand with the addition of a new 12-hole course. This exciting development, confirmed by documents from the Arcadia Township Planning Commission, is slated for completion in spring 2025.
Located approximately four hours from Detroit along the scenic Lake Michigan coast, Arcadia Bluffs currently features two renowned courses: the Bluffs Course and the South Course. The new addition, aptly named "The Dozen," will bring a unique 12-hole experience to golfers, further enhancing the resort's offerings.
Plans for The Dozen, revealed in the January meeting minutes of the Arcadia Township Planning Commission, include three par-3 holes. The course will also feature four cottages, with future plans for four additional cottages, a clubhouse with a pro shop and dining facilities, a maintenance building, and two restroom buildings.
During the February planning commission meeting, the architect presented the finalized design for The Dozen. The project will be executed in two phases, with phase one set for completion by spring 2025 and phase two projected to finish within one to five years.
Arcadia Bluffs, which opened in 1999, quickly gained acclaim as one of Michigan's most iconic golf courses. The original Bluffs Course was designed by renowned architect Warren Henderson. In 2018, the resort expanded with the addition of the South Course, located just a mile south of the Bluffs Course. The South Course is celebrated for its homage to classic golf course design, reminiscent of the famed Chicago Golf Club by C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor. It features distinct rectangular tees, expansive greens, wide fairways, and firm, fast conditions.
The South Course is described by Arcadia Bluffs as "a tribute to a bygone era in golf course design that few golfers have ever experienced." This addition of The Dozen is expected to complement and enhance the overall golfing experience at Arcadia Bluffs.
